Thermal imaging detects variations in surface temperature and heat patterns that may help identify areas requiring closer assessment. It does not diagnose an injury or medical condition, but can provide useful additional information alongside hands-on assessment and veterinary evaluation where required.
Thermal imaging can provide a useful visual baseline to complement physical assessment and help guide further investigation where appropriate. Repeat imaging may also help compare changes in heat patterns over time and provide additional information when monitoring a horse’s response.
Thermal imaging is non-invasive and contact-free, making it a useful assessment option without physical contact or sedation.
At JS Equine Body Connection, thermal imaging complements hands-on assessment by providing another way to observe surface temperature patterns. Findings are considered alongside the horse’s history, physical assessment and veterinary care where appropriate.
